Why Believing in Evolution Requires Faith

Life comes only from pre-existing life. Scientists have tried repeatedly to produce life from inanimate matter but with no success. Yet if evolution were true then sometime, somewhere, somehow inorganic chemicals arranged themselves in such a way to become living. If man with his intelligence cannot make this happen then how can brainless matter do it on its own?  To believe that it happened requires faith.

The evolution of DNA, RNA and protein synthesis is an impossibility. DNA contains coded information for producing proteins. DNA cannot function without  RNA and proteins that act as enzymes. Therefore DNA, RNA and the proteins that catalyze transcription, protein synthesis and DNA replication all had to evolve simultaneously in order to function. This is a mathematical impossibility no matter how much time is given for it to happen. To believe that it happened requires faith.

There are limits on the variation of organisms. Man has bred and crossbred organisms for thousands of years. All that has been produced are variations of the same kinds of organisms. Recombination of genetic information cannot produce new kinds of organisms. The formation of truly new kinds of organisms would require permanent, positive changes in the genetic information of organisms. The only known possible mechanism for permanent changes in the genetic information consists of chromosomal malfunctions or mutations which are mistakes in DNA replication. These by and large result in the loss of genetic information and the loss of function by the organisms. To believe that this process somehow produced evolution requires faith.

In summary many more problems with the theory of evolution must be overcome with faith in the abilities of inanimate matter. Ironically, creationist ideas are ridiculed or disparaged because of the faith involved with their acceptance. In reality the origin of living things is a matter of faith no matter what your view is. You can choose to have faith that mindless matter overcame these impossibilities or you can choose to have faith that a supreme, intelligent being that is beyond our comprehension created all living things. Those who choose the latter, trust that this Supreme Being has revealed Himself in the Bible and since we are His creation we are subject to His Will. Therefore it behooves us to study that revelation so that we may better conform to the purpose for which we were created.
